Physical Therapy (PT) is the health specialty concerned with the prevention of physical disability and the rehabilitation of congenital or acquired physical disabilities resulting from injury or disease. This involves the evaluation and treatment of any person by utilizing the effective properties of physical resources, such as mechanical stimulation, heat, cold, light, air, water, electricity, sound, massage, mobilization, and the use of therapeutic exercises. Rehabilitation procedures may also include training in functional activities, with and without associative devices, neurodevelopmental procedures, and education. Occupational Therapy (OT) focuses on restoring function and reestablishing strength at home, on the job, and in a recreational setting. Occupational Therapists perform a broad range of services focusing on reaching maximum potential, overcoming impairments, and improving quality of life at home with minimal to no assistance. In a vocational atmosphere, OTs work with clients to improve ergonomics, perform work hardening, and manage work related injuries.
